That gap may define the coming decade.

Power Without Proportion

Artificial intelligence has moved faster than almost any general-purpose technology in modern history. None of these risks require malevolent superintelligence. They emerge naturally from scale, incentives, and human behavior.

The Governance Lag

Technology companies innovate on months-long timelines. Governments legislate on years-long ones. Cultural norms evolve even slower.

This lag is not new, but AI magnifies its consequences.

Regulation today often swings between two failures: overreaction that stifles innovation, and paralysis that allows harm to accumulate unchecked. The challenge is not to slow AI indiscriminately, but to shape its development intentionally.

No single country, company, or ideology can manage this transition alone.

Human Maturity Is the Bottleneck
