From Smoky Seminar Seat to Global Body Language Mentor: How René Deceuninck Built a Worldwide Personal Development Brand

London entrepreneur and international keynote speaker René Deceuninck is taking his decades of expertise in body language and human behavior into a new era, expanding globally through education, digital transformation, and a mission to improve lives through communication.

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM— For René Deceuninck, one unexpected question at a seminar more than a decade ago became the catalyst for a complete transformation.

Today, the London-based entrepreneur, international keynote speaker, and founder of IPB Ltd. (The Institute for Personal Development and Body Language) is recognized globally for helping people better understand human behavior, communication, and personal growth. Through seminars, keynote presentations, coaching programs, and educational initiatives, Deceuninck has spent the past three decades building a career centered on one powerful belief: understanding people begins with understanding nonverbal communication.

His journey into the field accelerated in 2012 after attending a health and wealth seminar. Although he was a smoker at the time, he intentionally avoided smoking during the event to maintain a professional image. Following the seminar, the speaker approached him with an unexpected observation.

“He asked me how long I had been smoking,” Deceuninck recalls. “I was shocked because I had not smoked all day. He explained that he could identify it through physical signs and body language cues.”

The encounter proved life changing. Motivated by the experience, Deceuninck quit smoking and later reconnected with the speaker. That decision ultimately opened the door to an opportunity with Robbins Research International, where he would spend two years developing advanced communication and people skills while working closely with the organization behind motivational icon Tony Robbins.

The experience helped shape what would become his life’s work.

“What started in 1995 and has now evolved over 30 years has been magical,” he says.

Today, Deceuninck’s influence extends far beyond the United Kingdom. He has delivered presentations, workshops, and preview sessions for Tony Robbins’ “Unleash the Power Within” events across London, Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Dublin, Copenhagen, Aarhus, Odense, Brussels, and numerous other international locations.

His professional network includes collaborations and associations with some of the most recognized names in personal development and business, including Jack Canfield, Brian Tracy, Gary Vaynerchuk, Jairek Robbins, Keith Cunningham, James Caan, Dominic O’Brien, and the late Tony Buzan.

His client portfolio is equally diverse. Organizations ranging from national sports teams and universities to multinational businesses have sought his expertise. Educational institutions across Europe and Asia, including Oxford Business College, Neoma Business School, Clermont Business School, Amity University, the University of Porto, and Brussels University VUB, have engaged with his work.

At the core of Deceuninck’s teachings is a statistic that continues to surprise many professionals.

“Nonverbal communication represents approximately 93 percent of all communication,” he explains. “Yet an estimated 80 percent of the active population has little or no understanding of how this communication works.”

That knowledge gap has become the foundation of his business model.

However, Deceuninck is careful to challenge common misconceptions surrounding body language. He emphasizes that understanding human behavior requires nuance and context rather than simplistic interpretations.

“Never judge a person’s intentions or emotions based on a single cue,” he says. “Body language is highly contextual. You must look at clusters of gestures, baseline behavior, cultural differences, and environmental factors before drawing conclusions.”

As demand for online education continues to grow, Deceuninck is positioning his company for its next stage of expansion. On July 1, 2025, IPB Ltd. launched a significant digital transformation initiative aimed at reaching a larger global audience.

The strategy shifts the company toward an operating model consisting of approximately 80 percent online education and 20 percent live events. By August 2025, the organization plans to offer three live webinars daily, providing free access to body language education and personal development training worldwide.

The move reflects both market trends and changing consumer preferences.

“The world is changing rapidly,” Deceuninck says. “We want to make our knowledge available to anyone, anywhere, regardless of geography.”

His disciplined lifestyle mirrors the principles he teaches. A typical day begins at 5:00 a.m. with meditation, followed by exercise, meetings, webinars, and strategic planning. Daily walks in nature, evening reading, and structured reflection remain essential parts of his routine.

When faced with challenges, he relies on what he calls the “777 Method,” a breathing technique involving seven seconds of inhalation, seven seconds of holding the breath, and seven seconds of exhalation.

From there, he focuses on a simple question.

“Why does this matter to me?” he says. “Once you answer that, you can break any challenge into smaller steps and focus on what you can do right now.”

His perspective on success has also evolved over time. One of the biggest myths he says he has abandoned is the belief that success follows a straight, predictable path.

“Success is not linear,” Deceuninck explains. “It is often a chaotic journey filled with setbacks, failures, and unexpected detours. The more mistakes I made, the faster I learned. Growth and success became inevitable.”

For aspiring entrepreneurs, his advice centers on purpose rather than perfection.

“Create a solid business plan and build the network you need, but do not overprepare,” he says. “Adjust along the journey. Most importantly, understand your why. Eighty percent of success comes from knowing why you are doing what you do.”

Looking ahead, Deceuninck’s ambitions extend beyond business growth. He is currently exploring the creation of a charitable foundation focused on education, literacy, health, and medical research. The initiative reflects values instilled by his parents, who emphasized nutrition, personal responsibility, and lifelong learning.

“I will always be grateful for the way I was raised,” he says. “True vitality, a sharp mind, and a strong body begin with what we put into ourselves.”

As IPB Ltd. expands its digital footprint and educational reach, Deceuninck remains focused on a mission that has guided his career for decades: helping people better understand themselves and others.

In a world increasingly shaped by screens and digital interactions, he believes the ability to read, understand, and communicate with people remains one of the most valuable skills anyone can develop.

And if his own journey is any indication, one conversation, one insight, or even one unexpected question can change the trajectory of a life.
