Laurie Rider’s NEXT CHAPTER: Rising Talent of 2026

Laurie Lynn Rider’s journey through life has been rich with soundtracks, stories, and stages. Raised in a small Northern New Jersey town and now living in a Dallas suburb, she describes her life as a tapestry of creativity, resilience, and steadfast belief.

Her fascination with the entertainment industry began in childhood. She remembers being the last person in the theater, reading every single credit to the very end. She dreamed of being on television, especially on her favorite show, The Partridge Family, where she had her first crush on David Cassidy. She participated in theater productions during school and loved every moment of it. Yet life had other plans.

Laurie’s professional life carried her into a different form of performance. At eighteen, she began a remarkable career in radio that would span four decades. From Virginia to Tampa, Florida, then Nashville, Tennessee, and ultimately Dallas, Texas, she became a familiar voice and personality to countless listeners. In 1994, she was cast as a VJ on a primetime live music video channel called Z Music Television. During her time in Nashville, she also secured an agent and started going on commercial and music video auditions. That chapter enriched her experience and broadened her artistic view.

Throughout her life she balanced professional success with deep personal challenges. While five months pregnant, she lost her husband, Mark Rider, to a sudden cardiac arrest at work. The loss was devastating, but with faith and determination she raised her children, buoyed by family and community support. Seven years later she remarried, finding love again with Joe Clark. Tragically, he passed away after a battle with liver cancer. Through heartbreak and recovery, Laurie’s faith remained a guiding force. In the pain she found a deeper understanding of God’s love, mercy, and purpose.

Now, with her children grown and her spirit fully awakened, Laurie has returned to the dream she carried since childhood. She is fully immersed in acting and modeling, training with renowned coach Robert Funaro of The Sopranos and working with talent agent and former model Ryan Colby of Colby Management. The training has been transformative. “This has been a time of stretching and growth,” she says with appreciation. She credits her mentors with helping her refine her craft while nurturing her confidence.

What excites Laurie most about her work is the joy and connection it brings. She loves stepping into characters, contributing to stories that entertain, uplift, and allow audiences a moment of escape. “There is nothing like going to work loving what you do and having fun doing it,” she says. “Seeing people laugh, engage, and experience joy from your work is a gift.”

Her perspective on success is grounded in hard truth. There are no overnight stars. There are preparation, perseverance, and steady effort. Above all, there is authenticity. “Be yourself,” she says. “We are all unique. Own what makes you different. That is often the very thing a casting director loves.”

Laurie speaks from experience about the realities of this industry. There will be setbacks and no’s. “It is hard and not for the weak,” she explains. “You have to have tenacity.” Yet she also acknowledges the goodness she has found here. “There are really good people in this industry who want to help you succeed.”

To anyone wondering if it is too late to begin, Laurie’s answer is generous and sure. “It is never too late. Start. Do the work. Don’t doubt. If this is your passion, pursue it so you won’t have regrets later.” She sees every experience, even perceived failure, as growth, connection, and wisdom that enrich life.

For Laurie Lynn Rider, this chapter is not just about acting and modeling. It is a continuation of a life lived with purpose, faith, and joy. She trusts that her journey has been guided by something greater than herself, and she is ready for whatever doors open next.

She does not look back. She looks forward with gratitude, courage, and a deep sense of calling.
