Mugsy Blu is a woman of reinvention. Known professionally by her vibrant moniker but grounded in her roots as Megan Rywelski of Lindenhurst, New York, she is stepping boldly into a new chapter of her creative life. This time, it is on her own terms.
As a child, Megan was a model. But the fashion world would come calling again, first as a career and later as a calling. For two decades, she worked behind the scenes in Manhattan’s elite apparel industry, rising to Director of Apparel Technical Design for high-end labels. But it wasn’t until she raised her children into independence that a different kind of fire returned. “I found a new love for myself,” she says. “And a drive to go after my dreams.”
Today, with confidence earned through experience and a passion sharpened by resilience, Mugsy is reigniting her path as an actress, model, and creative voice. “Acting lets me become someone else entirely,” she says. “And when I model, I love showcasing the clothing and collaborating with photographers to create something beautiful.”
Her years in fashion have given her a discerning eye. But it’s her recent immersion in the entertainment world that has opened new doors of knowledge. “There is so much more insider information in this industry than you would ever know,” she shares. “Being with a company like VIP helped me access that.”
Now in her late 30s, Megan brings more than talent to the table. She brings truth. “There is an agent or producer out there right now who has your exact characteristics in mind,” she says. “You never know what skills you might uncover if you just start.”
She is also unafraid to speak about her greatest challenge: living with Rapid Cycling Manic Depressive Bipolar I Disorder. “It’s a massive challenge. I battle every day,” Megan says. “But I want everyone to know that even with a mental health diagnosis or setback, you can still dream. You can still move forward. Don’t give up.”
Mugsy Blu is not here to be perfect. She is here to be powerful. Her story is one of resurgence, of rediscovery, and of relentless creativity. And she’s only just getting started.
